iDCCD Installation Guide Overview

Digital Dash Expansion Information

The first step, once you have connected your phone to iDCCD, is to run the Updater Tool.

iDCCD Power Input Notes

iDCCD uses two separate power inputs:

  1. Red Wire - Switched Power / Turn-On Signal (Fuse #18 in the cabin)
iDCCD receives its turn-on signal from the backup light power circuit through the engine bay jumper. When this circuit becomes active, it tells iDCCD to power on.

  2. White Wire - Main Battery Power (Fuse #16 in the cabin)
Once iDCCD receives the turn-on signal, it activates the relay on the main harness. This allows the unit to draw its main operating power directly from the battery.

This two-stage power system allows iDCCD to remain powered for approximately 10 seconds after the ignition is turned off. The short delay prevents a quick ignition key cycle from disconnecting iDCCD from the iWire Connect App.

If iDCCD Does Not Power On

If iDCCD does not turn on, first check the backup light/switched power circuit and its fuse. If this power connection is missing or the associated fuse is blown, iDCCD will not receive the signal required to turn on, even if the main battery power connection is present.

RHD/Australian Spec Model Modifications

iDCCD was designed around left-hand drive (LHD) applications, but it will work with RHD models. The main thing is that the bracketry will be reversed, so you'll need a small modification to mount the unit properly in the vehicle.

Brake Switch Connection Notes

Our kit is designed to connect to the brake switch for power and to provide the brake switch input required for iDCCD to work properly. Our standard kit is designed for the cruise control models that use a 4-pin brake switch. Most models come with both types. If you see that you have the 2-pin style plugged into the brake switch, you should see the 4-pin connector under the dash. You’ll only need to plug the one end of the brake switch into the 4-pin connector and tuck away the other side of the jumper since the 2-pin and 4-pin connectors share both power input and the output wire to the brake lights.

Blue Throttle Position Wire To Tap at the ECU

The blue wire will go to the ECU's Throttle Position Signal (TPS).

First, pull back the carpet in the passenger side footwell. Then unbolt the metal kickplate. This will reveal the ECU.

Once you have figured out which wire to tap, place the Red T tap provided in the kit onto the wire and squeeze initially with your fingers, then clamp closed with a pair of pliers.

Make sure not to cut or damage the TPS wire during this process.

The throttle percentage shown by iDCCD represents the actual throttle-body position, not accelerator-pedal position. With this setup, the throttle body sits slightly open at idle to allow airflow, so we intentionally set the system up to show approximately 6–8% throttle with your foot off the pedal.

The pictures below are from a 2002-2005 WRX, and the color of the plug and wire may change.

Orange with White Stripe Neutral Position Wire to Tap at the ECU

The orange wire with a white stripe is ties into the Neutral Position Switch (NPS) from the ECU to the transmission to let the ECU know whether the transmission is in gear or not. We will use this for additional DCCD control in future updates. This process is the same as the TPS above.

NPS is critical to the engine function, so ensure that your NPS type matches what your ECU expects.

STi Cluster Display Wiring

If you are utilizing the STi cluster for the iDCCD display, we’ve included two harnesses. One is the main harness from the iDCCD, and the second is the jumper harness for the STi cluster. You’ll need to add the cluster wires to your original cluster harness.

STi Cluster Display Lighting for iDCCD

Auto Mode Lighting

With the factory DCCD, the indicators would be off while the vehicle is in the auto setting. Instead, while in auto, the bar indicates the input percentage for adjusting the map. The adjustment range is from 50% to 150%, reflecting a change from 50% less aggressive than the standard mapping to 50% more aggressive.

Auto Mode Cluster Display Logic
The display will show the current auto setting after the startup initial sequence completes. From there, the display bars will be off until you make a change. When a change is made, the bars will remain on the screen for 3 seconds, then turn back off.

Manual Mode Lighting

While in manual mode, the indicators will work, and the auto light will be off. In manual mode, the lock percentage corresponds to the output, indicating how locked the center differential will be. The factory only makes adjustments in 20% increments, while we’ve increased this to 10% increments for more refined control.

Manual Mode Cluster Display Logic
In manual mode, the display bars will always show the current setting.

Setting Up For Dyno Tuning

On the dyno, the iDCCD should be set to full lock to ensure all four wheels are spin at the same rate. While in auto mode, iDCCD will generally lock up, but it won’t always be at 100% so if you leave it in auto mode, it would be fine.

The best configuration for the dyno is manual mode, and the input request is at 100% for full lock. This means that the center differential will always be locked, no matter what, until the setting is changed. We also suggest selecting “Last Setting” under “Select default settings after restart” in the Device Configuration setting so that this remains in that position until your tune is complete.

We will add a “Dyno Mode” in a future update to make this as simple as possible.
